QLTS standard terms and conditions
Paragraphs 1-4 and 8-15 below apply to all Kaplan QLTS assessments.
- Places on an assessment must be paid for in pounds sterling (£) at the time of booking. Places are secured only when payment has been received in full and all conditions of payment have been complied with.
- The candidate and any sponsoring firm are jointly and severally liable for payments to Kaplan QLTS. The joint liability of any such candidate and firm continues after the candidate has left the employment of the firm.
- A candidate may be excluded from any QLTS assessment and any fee paid forfeit if:
- The candidate fails to arrive at the assessment centre at the required time
- The candidate refuses to agree to the non-disclosure agreement and/or refuses to make the fit to sit declaration.
- Candidates have 14 days after the date of payment for a QLTS assessment to cancel the relevant booking without cost, by notifying Kaplan QLTS in writing at the email address stated below.
Paragraphs 5-6 apply to the Kaplan QLTS MCT only
- Further to paragraph 3 above, a candidate sitting the MCT may also be excluded from an assessment centre and any assessment fee paid forfeit where:
- The candidate fails to bring to the assessment centre the required forms of identity. See MCT ID and Security.
- The candidate refuses to provide an electronic signature and/or have a photograph taken and/or refuses to abide by the testing rules when requested to do so.
- After the period of 14 days referred to at paragraph 4 above has expired candidates who wish to cancel an MCT booking may do so by logging into the Pearson VUE website by using the candidate login details, or by calling +44(0) 161 855 7584. The following provisions will apply:
- A candidate may cancel their MCT booking more than 1536 hours (64 days) prior to their scheduled exam start time and receive a full refund of their assessment fee
- A candidate who cancels their MCT booking after the time specified in 6.1 above but more than 1008 hours (42 days) prior to their scheduled exam start time is liable for a withdrawal charge of 25% of the assessment fee, plus VAT where applicable (at the local rate). The withdrawal charge will be deducted from the assessment fee paid
- A candidate who cancels their MCT booking after the time specified in 6.2 above but more than 168 hours (7 days) prior to their scheduled exam start time is liable for a withdrawal charge of 50% of the assessment fee, plus VAT where applicable (at the local rate). The withdrawal charge will be deducted from the assessment fee paid
- A candidate who cancels an MCT booking at or less than 168 hours (7 days) prior to their scheduled exam start time will forfeit their assessment fee
- The relevant registration and booking deadlines are displayed on the Kaplan QLTS website. Scheduled exam start times are contained in the confirmation emails sent to candidates after payment of the assessment fee has been made
Cancellation terms: For the MCT these are related to the MCT registration and booking deadlines
Paragraph 7 applies to the Kaplan QLTS OSCE only.
Cancellation terms: For the OSCE these are related to the OSCE booking deadline
- After the period of 14 days referred to at paragraph 4 above has expired candidates who wish to re-arrange or cancel their assessment may do so by notifying Kaplan QLTS in writing at the email address stated below. The following provisions will apply:
- Where the request to re-arrange or cancel is received by Kaplan QLTS before the booking deadline for the relevant assessment, the candidate is liable for a withdrawal charge of £250 + VAT which will be deducted from the assessment fee paid
- Where the request to re-arrange or cancel is received by Kaplan QLTS after the booking deadline for the relevant assessment but no less than 10 working days before the first day of the relevant assessment, the candidate is liable for a withdrawal charge of 75% of the assessment fee + VAT which will be deducted from the assessment fee paid
- Where the request to re-arrange or cancel is received by Kaplan QLTS less than 10 working days before the first day of the relevant assessment, the candidate will forfeit their assessment fee
- The relevant booking deadline is displayed on the Kaplan QLTS website.
Paragraphs 8-15 apply to all Kaplan QLTS assessments
- In the event of technical difficulties in a computer based assessment, candidates may be recalled for assessment on an alternative date.
- A candidate who is unable to attend an assessment on medical grounds remains liable for the full assessment fee unless they are able to provide appropriate medical evidence. Medical evidence must be provided within 10 working days following the assessment date and should be sent to Kaplan QLTS at the email address stated below. - Assessment fees are non-refundable in full or in part except under the circumstances outlined in paragraphs 4, 6, 7 and 9 above. This applies irrespective of whether the candidate attends the assessment.
- Kaplan’s liability to each candidate shall not exceed the fee paid by the candidate. Kaplan shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or special losses.
- No one other than a party to the agreement with Kaplan for the provision of the QLTS assessment may enforce any of its terms.
- Kaplan will not be liable in cases where Kaplan is unable to fulfil any services due to fire, natural disaster, act of government, terrorist attack, failure of utility service or any other reason which is beyond Kaplan’s control.
