About Dr. Eileen Fry
Eileen had overall responsibility, on behalf of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), for the design, development, and delivery of the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) and for the design, piloting, and initial development of the Solicitor Qualifying Exam (SQE).
More recently, Eileen has been working with the Bar Council of the Maldives and the American Bar Association to design and develop the Maldives Bar Exam.
Experience
Eileen began her career as a Trainee and then Assistant Solicitor at Compton Carr Solicitors. She then spent 13 years at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice, where she progressed from Principal Lecturer to Head of Litigation.
In 2007, Eileen joined Kaplan UK as the Legal Practice Course (LPC) Course Leader. From there, she went on to become Academic Director and then Head of the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS), before taking on the role of Director of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) in 2018.
Eileen is now the Assessment Consultant at Kaplan Assessments.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Eileen has a BA in social sciences from Manchester University and an MA and PhD from Manchester University in political philosophy. She is also a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (non-practising).

Eileen's specialism is the design, development, and delivery of high-stakes legal licensing exams, both in England and Wales and in other jurisdictions.
