How to apply

Thank you for your interest in the Kaplan Assessments Emerging Voices Awards 2026-27.

To submit a complete and eligible application, follow the steps below and prepare all required documents before opening the online application form.

Application deadline

30 November 2026 at 23:59 UK time.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

We recommend starting early so that you have time to discuss your proposal with your supervisor, mentor, or line manager, agree on an appropriate ethics route, and complete the endorsement and KTE data and support forms.

Please read the following documents before preparing your application:

Application process

  1. Check that you are eligible

    Confirm that you meet the applicant, institutional, and career-stage requirements. The project must be prospective or at an early stage, relevant to the annual theme and KTE, and normally deliverable within 6-12 months.

  2. Discuss and plan your project

    Discuss the proposal with your supervisor, mentor, or line manager. Agree the research question, scope, method, timetable, ethics, and data-management route, and the intended value to KTE and the wider field.

  3. Download the required supporting documents

    Download the Applicant Endorsement Letter Template and the KTE Data and Support Request Form. The data form is required even if you need only public materials or no additional KTE support.

  4. Complete the supporting documents

    Ask your supervisor, mentor, or line manager to complete and sign the endorsement. Complete the data and support form, and prepare a short CV or researcher profile of no more than two pages.

  5. Complete the online application

    Complete the form and upload your CV, signed endorsement letter, and completed KTE Data and Support Request form. Draft longer responses offline before opening the form.

  6. Review and submit

    Check that all questions are complete, word limits are met, declarations are accurate, and files are attached. Submit by 30 November 2026 at 23:59 UK time and retain the confirmation.

What to prepare before applying

The online application asks for information about you, your proposed research, and how the £2,500 award would be used. Prepare the following in advance:

  • A clear, public-facing project title of no more than 25 words.
  • A plain-language project abstract of no more than 300 words.
  • Your main research question(s) and objectives (maximum 150 words).
  • A short rationale and literature context explaining the problem and research gap (maximum 350 words).
  • An explanation of fit with the annual theme and direct relevance to KTE (maximum 200 words).
  • A focused design and methods section covering context, participants or data, recruitment, instruments, procedure, and analysis (maximum 500 words).
  • An ethics, safeguarding and data-management plan (maximum 350 words).
  • A realistic project schedule.
  • A budget plan showing how the £2,500 award would be used.
  • Details of any collaborators, overlapping applications, existing funding, or potential conflicts of interest.

Important application rules

  • Only one lead application may be submitted by each person in the 2026-27 cycle.
  • Applications must be completed in English and submitted through the online form by the deadline.
  • Only complete applications with all required documents will be considered.
  • Do not include bank details, passport or identity documents, full home addresses, participant names, identifiable research data, or health and disability information in the application form or uploaded documents.
  • Access to KTE data, materials, vouchers, systems, staff time, or analysis is not guaranteed. Requests are considered separately for feasibility, privacy, security, and legal risk.

Accessibility and questions

If you need an accessible format, reasonable adjustment, or alternative submission method, contact us as early as possible and no later than 10 working days before the deadline. Requesting an adjustment will not affect your application.
